Friday

Follow up.

As a follow up to my post from earlier, I now present you with the following:

You know what really grinds my gears? Control freaks. More specifically, control freaks who tell me what to do. (sorry there's no actual video. turns out Fox is a control freak, too. go figure.)

Furthermore, I would like to sick the Evil Monkey on said control freak. You know who you are. That's right. I mean you. Don't play coy. It's true.

Grrrrr.

Ever feel like this at work? Mmm, hmm. Really? Me too! Right now! You know, just because you say you're not being critical doesn't actually make it true. Are we clear? Ok, good. Now I can go on with my day and eat lots of candy!

Halloween Politics.

In honor of Halloween and the elections, I present you with a colorful illustration. Just remember to lighten up, it's funny no matter whom you like and it'll all be over soon anyway. Just think, next Wednesday all the fighting and mud slinging will be over and we can all just start rolling our eyes and complaining how we didn't get our way. It's the American way. :) lol

P.S. Remember to vote!!! It's very important because you're not allowed to complain later if you didn't speak your mind in the first place.

Wednesday

The Hills: Caption Style.

So you may have noticed a particular theme running throughout this episode. I'll go ahead and let you pick it out from my original captions below. Once you get all the actual talking out of the way, this is pretty much what happened.

Part 1:

Audrina: "Hey Justin. What are you doing here?"
Justin: "Well, I treated you like crap, so you started seeing some other guy. Now I've decided that he's way too nice to you, so I'll play head games and take you back so I can treat you like crap again. Tell me, are you gonna be THAT stupid and take me back?"

Audrina: "Oh, Justin! OF COURSE I'm that stupid! I WILL take you back! Being treated well has no "edge" and isn't very much fun."

Cory: "Seriously? Seriously? Are you kidding me?"

Audrina: "No, I'm not kidding. I'm pretty stupid and have no feeling of self-worth, so naturally I feel like I should give Justin another crack at treating me like crap. It's only fair."

Cory: "Well, I guess you're right. You are pretty dumb because I'm a nice guy who buys you cute little koala bears and treats you well. *head cocked to the side* I sure feel sorry for you."

Chiara: "Wow. Seriously? Really? Because you know Cory was nice and Justin is not. You get that, right? Ok, just checking. Mmm hmm, yeah. You're pretty stupid."

Audrina: "Yeahhhhhhh. I am. Now I'm back to being myself and being sad and distraught about Justin Bobby."

Part 2:

Cameron & Stephanie: *Thinking*"Uh oh, it's Brody. He's a meanie who makes me cry."

Steph: "Ok babe, now's your chance! There's Brody. Now you can go talk to him and straighten him out about being a meanie."
Cameron: "Uh, yeah, ok. Maybe in a minute. (I'm not really gonna because I'm not that stupid.)"

Spencer: "What?! He didn't stand up to Brody for you?"

Heidi & Spencer: "HAHAHAHAHA!!!! We told you so! We knew he wouldn't stand up to Brody for you. You're stupid."

Friday

You're invited.

It's a pity party and you're all invited! I just found out this morning that my best lady is moving away. Yes, fine, it's only 1 hour away, but that's a big deal when you're talking about going from 1 block away to 1 hour away. Current mood: very displeased.

Thursday

I hope it counts!

I waited in line for 1 hour today for early voting. I'm very excited to have the chance to speak my mind and cast my vote for the "right" candidate. Now let's just hope that Palm Beach County can get things figured out so my vote actually counts!

Just throw it away! You don't need it.

One of my fave bloggers, Melanie over at You Are My Fave, posted about clutter. She makes a great point that one of the more appealing things we may not even realize about homes we see in design mags is that they're not cluttered. I never really thought about it that way. This all reminded me of the life changing book I read, It's All Too Much by Peter Walsh. (he's also Oprah's organizing guru) He talks about the different reasons people have so much clutter, and thereby gives you solutions that will work for each person. It's a really quick read and I promise it will change how you look at things/objects. Now all you have to do is get it and just not lose it amongst the clutter! (That's right, Lauren, I'm talking to YOU! lol)

You might also check out Unclutterer. They have awesome solutions and inspiration on a daily basis.

Friday

The devil wears Ray Bans.

"It's Brad or I! It's Brad or I!" Honey, get a grip (and also please learn some grammar, because that part kills me the most).

I just watched last week's finale over the weekend and can't get over her redonkulousness! The eavesdropping, back-talking, attituding brat was on a roll. I mean, if I did all those things and yelled at my boss I'd have been fired long ago. Too bad "Tay, we all know you do everything right" will never experience that. Totally redonk.

What's this about?

Firstly, please pardon my absence. I have felt a bit uninspired as of late. (Plus it was our anniversary this week, so we were busy being off from work and lazying around the house together.)

The following pics sure inspire me. They inspire me to say what the heck?!!! What was all the competition about if they got to show anyway??? I'm beyond perplexed. Explanations? Anyone?

Thursday

Take on me.

Thanks to Mindi over on Word to Your Mother, I came across this hilarious spoof of one of my fave songs. Check it out. Love it.

But I think I still like this version wayyyyy more:

Tuesday

Beautious Creations.

So my weekend quilt store plans went over well. I signed up to take a quilt class and a purse class, along with one to make aprons that get donated to women's shelters at Thanksgiving. So in my usual obsessive nature to absorb everything I can about my new hobby, I have been scouring the interwebs and Etsy to find inspiration and instruction. My oh my, there are some beautiful creations out there! Behold, my favorite finds:

Monday

Good for a laugh.

This always makes me laugh, no matter how many times I see it.

Friday

Weekend.

Weekend plans anyone? I am resigned to my old lady hobbies and will be making a trip to Quilter's Choice with my girl Raygan to sign up for some classes. They finally added some night/weekend slots for us working girls, so we're going to learn to make quilts, aprons, and handbags. I'm really quite excited. (Kinda surprising, given I'm actually just 27.)

Some girl love.

I have absolutely no explanation for this, but for some reason I just adore Joanna Garcia. She is the solitary reason I started watching Privileged. She just seems like such a sweetie and like she'd be a great girl to pal around with. It's also a cute show.

Thursday

House Tour: My Master Suite.

Welcome to my home! As this is my favorite room, I shall begin my little House Tour series here.

Ah, my beautiful, comfortable bed. That's my side, over there on the left. I was inspired by the hotel vibe. I love the puffy shams and swing arm lamps they have...something about the organized look makes me smile. I like to think that this decor reveals two things about me: 1. I like bright, cheery looks 2. I'm a Pottery Barn whore.
Everything is from Pottery Barn in this pic: Lewis Slipcovered Headboard, Heidi Stripe Duvet & Shams, Hudson Wide Bedside tables, Chelsea Swing Arm Sconce Lamps w/Bisque shades.

Here's another view of my bed. I'm not quite certain what to do as far as bedside and above the bed art goes. For above the bed I've been thinking either one large piece or 3 small pieces would work well. I'm been combing through Etsy, but can't find anything yet. I tend to lean toward photography and Impressionist art. I saw this piece at ZGallerie, but am afraid it might be too dark or big. Any suggestions?
(And if you think this looks sparse, you should have seen it sans duvet and any furniture and no accent wall. De-press-ing!)(UPDATE: Here it is before! I found a pic.)

I think this pic from O at Home resembles my general look, minus the leather and layering. I would love to find a piece of that proportion to put over my bed. I'm hoping to have some luck at Artigras in February.

Moving in a clockwise fashion, this is my dresser (that's my bathroom in there...perhaps another tour). It's oversized, reaching up to my 5'3" upper stomach area. I got it for a steal at my local furniture warehouse AND I used my recently gained Tupperware commission to pay for the whole thing. So very technically it was free :)

This is my jewelry board and frame tray. My mom got me the bulletin board and I decided having all the baubles out in eyesight is much easier than storing in a drawer. I got the idea for the tray made from a frame from Real Simple a year ago. Since I took this picture 2 weeks ago, I have since found a gorgeous pink paisley scrapbook paper to fill the frame.

Closeup of the jewelry board. Lots of Banana Republic, homemade, and NYC street finds represented.

Closeup of tray. My 3 perfumes in constant "mood" rotation. Some vintagey looking frames behind my grandmother's old pillbox and powder compact. Very classy lady. Miss her.

Continuing around the room, this is the view from my bed. The door to the left leads to the hallway, while the door on the right is my hubby's closet (mine is through the bathroom, weird, but realllllllly happy to have his/hers). The watercolor is by Chris Hartsfield, an amazing watercolor artist I discovered at a festival a few years back. It is of a Stargazer Lily, my favorite flower, and was given to me by my grandmother, my favorite person. Very appropriate. Hopefully this Christmas we'll be replacing the tv with a nice LCD flat panel and a new stand. What I'd love on the right is a pretty club chair with a simple floor lamp to have a little reading/relaxing nook. But that's a whole other budget, unless I can find something thrift.

Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoyed the tour. Please leave any comments/suggestions/criticisms(but not too many of those criticisms) in the comments. Please do drop by again soon!
